National Account Services (NAS) , wholly owned by Lennox International, a 100+ year old company and a world leader in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry. Under general supervision, responsible for supporting many aspects of the Sales and Use Tax function, encompassing support with state/local sales and use tax audits, processing and maintaining customer/vendor resale and exemption certificates, researching and resolving customer and vendor tax issues, performing taxability research, facilitating eCommerce order to cash, and other duties as assigned.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Determine proper state and local taxability of customers on an account and transaction basis
Real property transaction and service taxability experience
Review and approve sales tax on real property transactions and invoices
Multi-state internet research on sales tax related issues
Experience with CCH.com tax and accounting research website
Handle and resolve notices and assessments with taxing authorities and negotiate minimum payouts.
Update and maintain tax rate changes. Assist with special projects, as needed.
Experience and knowledge of state and local tax audit process
Process, analyze, and reconcile the sales/use tax return filings and accounts.
Effectively communicate sales and use tax laws to both internal and external customers through research and interpretation of state regulations. This includes providing supporting documentation to internal/external customer
Assist customers on tax helpline and email
Special projects and other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
Degree or equivalent work experience
Multi-state taxability research experience is required
1-2 year sales and local tax experience a plus
Basic accounting knowledge with account reconciliation experience and journal entry preparation
Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
Demonstrated customer focused behavior such as building positive relationships
Excellent problem solving skills, internet research, direct resolution with taxing authorities.
Ability to deal with difficult situations in a diplomatic and professional manner
Ability to make recommendations based on investigation and judgment as well as ability to discern when to escalate issues
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, ability to adjust communication based on customer situation
Active Listening - give full attention to the words and take time to understand the points being made and ask questions as appropriate
Time Management - ability to prioritize workload and manage one's own time
A positive approach and willingness to learn coupled with the ability to work in a team environment
